Power and Control in Relationships
Frequently, I give this 8x11 sheet about power and control to my counseling clients who are in questionable relationships.
I ask them to use a highligther to mark any
word or phrase that describes the behavior of their relationship partner. As you can see, there are many kinds of problematic "power and control" behaviors. Typically, we only think of
physical violence as a serious problem, but there are other forms of abuse, degradation and humiliation that may be subtle.
For my female clients in questionable relationships, I usually have them read
"How To Spot A Dangerous Man" by Sandra Brown.
That's a good starting point to help someone do an honest assessment of the health of their relationship.
If I can be a help to you or if you want to set up an appointment, please don't hesitate to contact me.
